The ELDORADO project aims to assess the long-term toxicity of dolutegravir and to compare its efficacy and tolerability with those of doravirine in first-line antiretroviral treatment for people living with HIV, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
The Objectives of the ELDORADO
Project
ELDORADO is an international, multicenter, clinical research project that aims at evaluating the toxicity of dolutegravir-based antiretroviral treatment and investigates doravirine as a potentially safer and equally virologically effective first-line alternative for PLHIV.
ELDORADO includes a randomized clinical trial, conducted across six countries on four continents: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Brazil, Thailand, and France, that will compare dolutegravir and doravirine in terms of:
- Virologic efficacy
- Safety (including metabolic, cardiac, and hepatic outcomes)
- Mental health and quality of life
This interdisciplinary project aims to generate high-quality evidence to inform global and national HIV treatment guidelines.
ELDORADO is supported by the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking, Inserm-ANRS MIE, and MSD.
Countries involved
The ELDORADO project is conducted in 19 clinical sites over 6 countries
(Brazil, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Mozambique and Thailand).
