On 7th May 2025, the ELDORADO project was officially launched during its kick-off meeting, bringing together interdisciplinary partners from four continents to initiate an ambitious global research effort in HIV care.

ELDORADO aims to assess the toxicity of Dolutegravir, recommended as the first-line antiretroviral treatment (ART) for HIV by WHO, and to evaluate Doravirine as a potentially safer alternative with fewer long-term side effects.

Conducted across six countries on four continents in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Brazil, Thailand, & France, the ELDORADO trial will include a diverse population, generating high-quality, representative data across various settings and genetic backgrounds, on the virologic efficacy and toxicity of the ART regimens tested.

The project also places a strong emphasis on capacity building, with dedicated activities for continuous training & mentorship of young investigators, clinicians, researchers & community actors across all participating countries.

Supported by the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking, Inserm ANRS Maladies infectieuses émergentes & MSD, the project brings together a unique, interdisciplinary & international consortium.

We are proud to embark on this scientific journey to advance safer, more effective & globally relevant HIV care!
